Why one layout

The alternative — each page hand-assembling its own header block — is how a site slowly drifts out of alignment with itself. Three pages end up with three slightly different top paddings and nobody notices until they're side by side.

Pages with genuinely bespoke structure (a full-bleed hero, a bespoke grid) should useBaseLayout directly instead of contorting this one. The home page does exactly that.
